Migrant Caravan Headed for the U.S.
Thousands of migrants are making a treacherous journey through Mexico on foot in hopes of entering the United States. There are around 7,000 people in the caravan which originated in the southern Mexican city of Tapachula, which is near the Guatemalan border. The migrants hail from all over the world, although most are from Central and South America. There are several reasons why those within the caravan are making the trek north. Some of which include high levels of poverty and crime, along with political instability. The march represents one of the largest migrant caravans headed for the U.S. since the summer of 2022.
