Israel Declares War on Hamas – After Hamas Attacks Israel
On October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas fired thousands of rockets from Gaza into Israel. Soon afterwards Hamas militants crossed the border between Gaza and Israel and launched a series of attacks against Israelis by way of air, land, and sea. With the death toll expected to rise in the coming days, Hamas fighters killed at least 900 people in Israel and thousands have been injured and or displaced. In addition, Hamas militants took hostages during their incursion into Israel and plan to use them as a bargaining tool in their negotiations with the Israeli government.
