Protesters Take to the Streets in Peru Calling on the President to Resign

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets throughout Peru calling on President Pedro Castillo to resign.

The embattled Peruvian leader who took office last year has already been impeached twice and is currently the subject of a half dozen criminal investigations. Demonstrators have alleged corruption within his administration, while Mr. Castillo claims the efforts to unseat him are politically motivated. The left-wing leader has faced an uphill battle implementing his campaign platform of reducing income inequality considering the opposition party controls Congress.
