Civil War in Yemen: Humanitarian Concerns, the Path to Peace, and Ramifications of Ongoing War

As the worlds attention remains fixated on Ukraine, there is another equally disturbing humanitarian crisis currently unfolding in Yemen. Recently, Angelina Jolie who serves as a special envoy for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) traveled to Yemen to raise awareness for the ongoing civil war that continues to plague the country.

The conflict within Yemen has dragged on for nearly a decade, and as a result hundreds of  thousands of people directly or indirectly have lost their life. In addition, millions of Yeminis have been displaced from their homes due to the unrest.
