Democrats and Republicans vie for Governorship in Virginia
Virginia voters will go to the polls on Tuesday to elect the next leader of the Old Dominion state. Incumbent governor Ralph Northam is term limited and cannot run for reelection.
The campaign to replace Northam is the most expensive contests for governor in Virginia’s history and both parties are betting that a win Tuesday will propel them to victory in the 2022 midterm elections. Former governor Terry McAuliffe is the Democratic nominee, and he is challenged by Republican businessman, and political newcomer, Glenn Youngkin.
Why is the gubernatorial race close considering President Biden won the state by ten points?
